(More customer reviews)I bought this as a vacation tripod. Its flexibility is also the reason it can take a while to get it into position. At times when I had a while to sit and shoot (indoor self-portrait), it was perfect. But when I was losing light and otherwise tight on time, it was frustrating. It supports my P&S camera fine in more standard configurations. But on more 'bendy' ones, if I wanted an angled or horizontal picture, I had to be careful or it would tip over.
I'm sure that with practice, I will work out lots of these problems. But I imagine that many people buy similar products for vacation, and therefore without lots of practice before hand.
The best part - I left the tripod in the camera and found I was able to use it to help steady the camera for sure shots up to 1/5s, and up to 1 sec if I was very careful. The 'monopod' created more distance for better self-group pics (the standard arrangement in which one-person holds the camera and everyone crowds in). It also gave me better overhead shots at a parade I attended where I was 5 people away from the action.
So, 3 stars for its use as a tripod, and 5 for its additional use as a monopod. Average - 4 points.

The Sunpak FlexPod is a mini-tripod that is the perfect accessory for people who like to take pictures outdoors in places that other tripods can't reach. Its three multi-segmented flexible legs can be formed to grip almost any protrusion, be it a branch, doorknob, rock, or uneven surface. Each of the joints can bend and rotate 360°, to wrap around objects. The bottom rubber segment on the leg ends allows it to be also used in the traditional way.
